SPRING LACROSSE

The Time Is Now

Spring team lacrosse registration is underway. Playing Wayzata lacrosse, affectionately referred to as "LAX" by those in the sport, has a number of great benefits for both kids and parents. Articles have detailed its benefits (and the benefits of sports in general) for youth participants: increased fitness, improved mental acuity, socialization and team building, are just a few.

To top it off, lax is fun to play. Just ask any of the kids!

As a parent, you might feel that because you don't know much (or anything) about lax, that you won't enjoy it. Quite the contrary, lax is an exciting sport to watch! And we can teach you everything you need to understand the game. From parent clinics, to coach briefings, to questions being answered by your game ref., there are lots of ways you can learn exactly what is going on. In fact, you may find out that it seems just a little bit familiar . . . a little bit like hockey, but on the grass.  And if your kid is into hockey, he or she may even learn a thing or two about that sport.  KEEP SCROLLING to register now or navigate using "Boys Info" or "Girls Info" above to "Register Online".

ASK WAYNE GRETZKY

"If sport has a high point of the year, it must be the first week of spring . . . When I was growing up, I used to love this time of year. It was when I put my hockey equipment away and I was absolutely ecstatic to see the end of the hockey season."

"I could hardly wait to get my lacrosse stick out and start throwing the ball around. It didn't matter how cold or rainy it would be, we'd be out firing the ball against walls and working on our moves as we played the lacrosse equivalent to road hockey."

"All the good hockey players seemed to play lacrosse in those days and everyone of them learned something from the game to carry over to the other -- things athletes can only learn by mixing up games they play when they are young."

Wayne Gretzky, National Post, March 2000

Boys' Season Changes for 2020 -

STILL LOTS OF LAX

Boys Spring Lacrosse will be the only field lacrosse opportunity for the BOYS until Fall 2020. (The girls' seasons are structured diffently through MSLAX, so girls are unchanged.) Unlike 2019, we will not offer Boys Summer Lacrosse at any age. See below for a bit more detail by age.

14U 2020

14U Boys Spring Lacrosse will be a blend of a partial Great Northern Lacrosse League, scheduling our own games against other premier associations and 2 tournaments. This blended season is aimed at finding better competition consistency, less conflict with club lacrosse programs and giving some family weekends back. There will be no 2020 Summer Field Lacrosse.

12U 2020

12U Boys Spring Lacrosse will be a blend of a partial Great Northern Lacrosse League, scheduling our own games against other premier associations and 2 tournaments.
